The Orange County chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW-OC) recently hosted its 7th-annual SPIRE Awards ceremony at the Samueli Theater in Costa Mesa, California, honoring local commercial real estate leaders for Superior Performance in Real Estate.
Chapman University’s director of real estate and property management, Linda Padilla Smyth, served as co-chair of this year’s event. She said, “The Orange County commercial real estate market is an extremely close-knit community, and events like the SPIRE awards prove the dedication and support we provide to one another.” Smyth also noted that this year’s attendance was one of the largest yet.
Current CREW-OC President Stacy Stemen spoke about the rising influence of women in the industry with a moment of audience participation to engage the crowd. “Stand up if you’ve been positively impacted by a woman in commercial real estate,” she urged, and the crowd rose to its feet with applause.
Cheryl Osborn, president and founder of Casco Contractors and the event’s keynote speaker, spoke of women’s essential role in construction and addressed the critical role of trade schools in the industry.
“There is a tremendous need to de-stigmatize trade schools and equip our developments and construction sites with more smart, focused, skilled workers,” Osborn said.
Eric Paulsen, managing principal of Cushman & Wakefield and the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, announced each category’s finalists and winners. The 7th Annual SPIRE Award winners include:
