The panel of judges for the 2018 Gold Nugget Awards have named Newman Garrison + Partners architecture firm as an Award of Merit and Grand Award winner in its annual competition. The Gold Nugget Awards recognize architectural design and planning excellence among top firms across the United States and internationally.

Newman Garrison + Partners earned the Grand Award for its Wesley Village project in Garden Grove, California, which was honored for “Best Affordable Housing Community – Under 30du/acre.” Wesley Village is a residential property consisting of two three-story buildings that provide one- to three-bedroom housing for both the senior community and renters seeking affordable housing. Sixteen units, developed by Jamboree Housing, are available as senior housing, while an additional 31 units offer affordable housing to others in the Garden Grove community.

The firm was also recognized with the Award of Merit for its 820 Mission project in South Pasadena, California, which was honored for “Best Multi-Family Housing Community – 15-30du/acre.” 820 Mission is a 1.03-acre urba- infill neighborhood that includes the adaptive reuse of an existing three-story office building by incorporating a variety of stacked flats and two-story townhomes. A major highlight of the property is the 6,400-square-foot “central park” that was designed to create usable open space for residents to enjoy. Newman Garrison + Partners worked with Intracorp Companies on the development of this property.
