As the Inland Empire market continues to grow, so does housing demand in the region. Landsea Homes has purchased approximately 85 acres of land in Ontario, California, on which to build its first community in San Bernardino County, according to a release from a representative of the firm.
Landsea is planning to build 432 homes with energy-saving features within four communities surrounded by several family-oriented amenities including a community pool, dog park, tot lot, and “expansive” open space for gatherings, the statement says. Land development is expected to begin in early 2019, and open for sale mid-2020.
The release also says the parcel is located between Archibald and Merrill avenues and is centrally located near employers, restaurants, and entertainment destinations including Ontario Mills, a shopping center with more than 200 stores, and Victoria Gardens, a retail destination featuring boutiques, dining, and a movie theater.
Tom Baine, president of the Southern California division of Landsea Homes, is quoted in the release as saying, “The City of Ontario is a desirable place to live because of its people, and it’s a natural hub for industry and commerce.”
The property lies within the Ontario Ranch masterplan, a mixed-use area encompassing residential neighborhoods, commercial facilities, and recreational amenities, according to the statement. The proposed plans feature retail and business space, along with nearly 1,000 acres dedicated to public open space, parks, and schools. The location is commutable to major employment centers in four surrounding counties, according to the source.
Landsea has developed homes in New York, New Jersey, and throughout California in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, and Orange County, the release says.
