EXCLUSIVE: Retail Center at New Haven Set to Break Ground

Frontier Real Estate Investments will break ground October 5 on New Haven Marketplace, a new lifestyle shopping center in Ontario Ranch, California, according to a release from a representative of the firm sent to SoCal Real Estate exclusively. The project, slated to open in fall 2019, complements the master-planned community of New Haven in Ontario Ranch by Brookfield Residential, on which we recently reported.

Located on Ontario Ranch Road between New Haven and Haven Avenues, the center will be anchored by Stater Bros. Market and will include a dynamic mix of dining, retail and services spanning approximately 95,000 square feet, according to the statement. Other confirmed tenants at New Haven Marketplace include Chase Bank, Carl’s Jr., Jersey Mike’s Subs, Dunkin’ Donuts, Kona Cleaners, Pacific Dental Services, and Great Clips, the statement says.

New Haven Marketplace will feature farmhouse-inspired architecture and extensive landscaping. To appeal to millennials — who represent more than 50 percent of buyers at New Haven —Frontier is creating communal areas for gathering, relaxing, and playing and installing public art “to encourage conversations and Instagram-worthy moments,” the release says. Dan Almquist, managing partner of Newport Beach, California–based Frontier Real Estate Investments, is quoted in the release as saying, “We seized the opportunity to develop New Haven Marketplace to serve the Ontario Ranch community.” He adds that he is confident his firm’s “approach to retail place making” would deliver a center to match Brookfield’s success with the New Haven residential community.

That community features more than 8,500 new homes and apartments programmed and developed by Brookfield Residential, along with other homebuilders. according to the statement. Dave Bartlett, VP land for Brookfield Residential, is quoted in the release as saying, “We are very happy partnering with Frontier to bring New Haven’s home buyers what they want in a lifestyle center. This new destination amplifies the many attractive amenities in New Haven’s neighborhoods by creating a place that goes beyond shopping and dining to become part of the community experience.”
